Cub Scout Outings – Alternatives to Day Camp

Posted by Scoutmaster on March 30, 2010

Unfortunately, the DeLand day camp has been canceled. There is the option of attending the Deltona day camp, which is scheduled to take place the week before DeLand’s was to take place (which would be 6/21/2010 – 6/25/2010). I do not know where this will be held, and it’s not even showing up on either the district or the council calendars.

There are a few cub scout camps going on at La-No-Che this spring:
Spring to Spring, 4/9/2010-4/11/2010
Fun With Son, 4/16/2010-4/18/2010
I see no sign up sheets or information at either website about these either.

How about holding our music-themed family camp-out on 5/28/2010-5/30/2010? Mr. Sam will be in Alaska at that time. Are there any other conflicts?

Let’s discuss and plan in the comments.

We’ve been as busy as…Cub Scouts!

Posted by Mrs. Tricia on March 15, 2010

Our beloved Mrs. Jennifer (the assistant cub master and Webelos den leader) has been out on maternity leave since little Katie Jane Elizabeth Eckhardt was born on February 12th. We miss Mrs. Jennifer very much, and we can’t wait until she is able to come to Cub Scouts again! Read the rest of the article »

Newsletter 006, 26 February, 2010

Posted by Scoutmaster on February 26, 2010

Hello scouts and families,

There have been some big changes with the Troop and Pack 804 website!

The best change is that we now have our own domain. That means that the website is no longer attached to the Eckhardts’ business website, www.biztaxpros.com

The new domain (website address) for the troop and pack is http://www.bsa804.com This address should be much easier to remember. The old address will forward to the new one for a little while, but you should update your bookmarks right away. I intend to make some big changes to the business website as well, and when I do, the old troop and pack address will no longer forward to the new one.

This means that my email address is also changed. The old one will work for a while, but if you use it you will get an automatic response reminding you of the change. My new address is scoutmaster@bsa804.com. I am sending from that address right now.

Many of you do not take advantage of the website, so I want to take a minute to let you know about what’s always been there, and what has changed. Please register with the website and leave some comments. The online community will not flourish without your support.

As in the past, the website has news and pictures of our events. These have been updated through the Blue and Gold Banquet.

There is still our calendar, which is powered by Google Calendar. If you use Google Calendar for your personal agenda, as I do, you can add the troop calendar to your own to keep you really informed about what you have going on.

The Show N Sell information is also still on the website, and it has been updated to reflect all information received through the last meeting.

Now for the new stuff:

There is now a chat page where we can chat with each other in real time.

There is a contact form which should make it much easier for boys interested in joining the troop or pack to find out more about us.

There is now a forum where we can plan meetings and camp outs and whatever else we want.

There is a link for the Patrol Leaders’ Council to submit troop meeting plans.

There is a ScoutLink page where we can chat in real time with scouts from all over the world. This chat room has people in it most of the time, day or night.

There is a webmail feature where responsible scouts can check their own bsa804.com email.

Links to official forms, websites and information have been added or updated.

Please take advantage of the website!

Well, some time has certainly gone by since the last Troop 804 newsletter. We have had many fun times in the past few months, and several rank advancements have been made. The purpose of this newsletter, however, is to detail some future events for all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Leaders, and Parents. With spring and summer on the way, there are many events to plan for. Some of these involve permission slips, medical exams, and other types of preparations. We don’t want anyone left out due to a lack of preparation, so please read through the following information carefully.
