I do not know where this will be held, and it’s not even showing up on either the district or the council calendars.

There are a few cub scout camps going on at La-No-Che this spring:
Spring to Spring, 4/9/2010-4/11/2010
Fun With Son, 4/16/2010-4/18/2010
I see no sign up sheets or information at either website about these either.

How about holding our music-themed family camp-out on 5/28/2010-5/30/2010? Mr. Sam will be in Alaska at that time. Are there any other conflicts?

Let’s discuss and plan in the comments.

Our beloved Mrs. Jennifer (the assistant cub master and Webelos den leader) has been out on maternity leave since little Katie Jane Elizabeth Eckhardt was born on February 12th. We miss Mrs. Jennifer very much, and we can’t wait until she is able to come to Cub Scouts again! In her absence, we’ve been doing our best to make her proud by completing lots of requirements.

Our Tigers, Wolves, and Webelos scouts have been meeting together during the month of March. We’ve learned how to check our pulses, we’ve talked about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and we’ve been practicing our push ups, sit ups, pull ups, standing long jump, standing high jump, 50 yard dash, and 1/4 mile run. We’ve also talked about primary colors and secondary colors, we’ve discovered the name for art materials (medium or media), and we’ve made artist portfolios, collages, mobiles, color wheels, facial profiles, and clay sculptures. By the end of our time together next week all of our cubs will have earned at least two awards.

Hello scouts and families,

There have been some big changes with the Troop and Pack 804 website!

The best change is that we now have our own domain. That means that the website is no longer attached to the Eckhardts’ business website, www.biztaxpros.com

The new domain (website address) for the troop and pack is http://www.bsa804.com This address should be much easier to remember. The old address will forward to the new one for a little while, but you should update your bookmarks right away. I intend to make some big changes to the business website as well, and when I do, the old troop and pack address will no longer forward to the new one.

This means that my email address is also changed. The old one will work for a while, but if you use it you will get an automatic response reminding you of the change. My new address is scoutmaster@bsa804.com. I am sending from that address right now.

Many of you do not take advantage of the website, so I want to take a minute to let you know about what’s always been there, and what has changed. Please register with the website and leave some comments. The online community will not flourish without your support.

As in the past, the website has news and pictures of our events. These have been updated through the Blue and Gold Banquet.

There is still our calendar, which is powered by Google Calendar. If you use Google Calendar for your personal agenda, as I do, you can add the troop calendar to your own to keep you really informed about what you have going on.

The Show N Sell information is also still on the website, and it has been updated to reflect all information received through the last meeting.

Now for the new stuff:

There is now a chat page where we can chat with each other in real time.

There is a contact form which should make it much easier for boys interested in joining the troop or pack to find out more about us.

There is now a forum where we can plan meetings and camp outs and whatever else we want.

There is a link for the Patrol Leaders’ Council to submit troop meeting plans.

There is a ScoutLink page where we can chat in real time with scouts from all over the world. This chat room has people in it most of the time, day or night.

There is a webmail feature where responsible scouts can check their own bsa804.com email.

Links to official forms, websites and information have been added or updated.

Please take advantage of the website!

Well, some time has certainly gone by since the last Troop 804 newsletter. We have had many fun times in the past few months, and several rank advancements have been made. The purpose of this newsletter, however, is to detail some future events for all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Leaders, and Parents. With spring and summer on the way, there are many events to plan for. Some of these involve permission slips, medical exams, and other types of preparations. We don’t want anyone left out due to a lack of preparation, so please read through the following information carefully.

There have been some new additions to the front page of our website, http://www.bsa804.com . There are links to medical exam forms and permission slips, as well as other important information. Don’t forget that you can view past newsletters there as well. There is also a handy Google calendar of events that you can use to help schedule your time. If you use a Google calendar for your personal schedule, you can integrate the Troop 804 calendar with your own.

Medical exam forms are necessary for all scouts and leaders. There are three classes, numbered 1, 2, and 3. All three are available from our website. Class 1 forms may be filled out by a parent and are necessary for every Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and leader. Class 2 forms must be filled out by a physician, and they are required for all Boy Scouts and anyone else who will be on any outing for 73 or more consecutive hours. Class 3 exam forms must be filled out by a physician and are necessary for high adventure events. Although we do not anticipate needing class 3 exams in the near future, they are not much more complicated than the class 2 forms, so if you are going to have a class 2 filled out, you might as well have a class 3 filled out as well at the same time. For those without a regular doctor or health insurance, these forms can be filled out at a community clinic. The class 1 form is good for one year, and the class 2 and 3 forms are good for three years.

A permission slip will be required for all overnight campouts and for certain other trips as well. A blank permission slip can be found on our website. They are rather easy to fill out. One blank is for our council, which is the Central Florida Council (just look at the left shoulder of our uniforms.) The rest of the blanks are for personal information, signatures, dates, and the name of the event.

Family Fest cards are an official council fundraiser. They are essentially coupon cards that we sell for $10 each. They contain quite attractive coupon offers worth far more than ten dollars. They also contain an admission to “Family Fest.” Family Fest is a district scouting event held on 5 May, 2007 at Earl Brown Park. This event is open to the public. There are many fun things to do, and interesting scout crafts presented by all of the troops and packs in the area. We will be hosting a booth as well. We have arranged for the right to sell the cards to the public in front of Lowe’s, Blockbuster, Winn-Dixie, and Tractor Supply on certain dates at certain times. A copy of the sign-up sheet is available on our website. Please take a look at the sheet and contact scoutmaster Troy Eckhardt (scoutmaster@biztaxpros.com) with the times and dates you’d like. You cannot save your information directly to this sheet – instead email the scoutmaster and he will update the sheet for you. Remember that we get to keep a substantial amount of the money we collect, and this money will be used to fund the expensive camps and trips we have planned. As always, the boys who work are the boys who will be rewarded. We will be picking up the cards on Thursday, 15 March 2007, and distributing them at the next meeting. The sale will end in the beginning of May.

The Glenwood Presbyterian Church has asked that we host a refreshment booth at their sale on Saturday, 17 March, 2007. In order to do this we need scouts in uniform to man the booth from 8:00am until 11:00am. We also need volunteers to provide baked goods and other refreshments to sell. We have received rather short notice, unfortunately, but we just can’t turn down any request for assistance, and with so many expensive events coming up in the next few months, we want to provide every possible opportunity for boys to earn money. We will be selling Family Fest cards at this booth as well, and any boys who come will get their cards early.

There is a Pack/Troop/Family campout scheduled for the weekend of 13 -15 April, 2007. Everyone is invited, including all Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in 804, and their family members. The campout will be held either at Clearwater Lake near Paisley, or at the Duval Ranch near DeLeon Springs. The camp will feature a modified patrol method for meals, meaning that the two Boy Scout patrols plus a special Cub Scout Patrol will each be responsible for planning, purchasing, and cooking a portion of the meals. Medical exams forms and permission slips are required for all scouts as detailed above. All Cub Scouts and non-scouts (siblings) must have a parent in attendance as well. The cost for food is expected to be $15 per person for the weekend, and children under 7 years old can eat for free.

Cub Scouts should be working on their Pinewood Derby cars. Any Boy Scouts that want to compete may build a car as well, but please remember that Boy Scouts cannot compete at the district level. The official rules can be found on our website. Dads can build cars as well, but the district won’t let them compete either. However, because Pinewood Derby cars are so cool, anyone who wants to compete at the Pack/Troop level may do so. Pinewood Derby kits can be purchased at the Camp La-No-Che store or some more expensive kits are available at Sears in DeLand. Some unofficial kits are available at Lowe’s. The word is out so far that at least one Boy Scout will bring his old car, and at least one old scoutmaster will bring two or three of his VERY old cars, provided he can find them in the attic. As we did with the raingutter regatta, the pack and troop will be together for the pack level races. The pack races will start at 6:30 on 26 March, 2007, and the district level races will be on 21 April, 2007. There will also be a pot luck dessert table after the Pack/Troop Pinewood Derby races. Each family should bring a dessert to share. 804 will supply drinks, cups, plates and sporks.

Cub Scout Day Camp will be held from 8:30am – 4:30 pm on 25-29 June, 2007 at the Plymouth Avenue Christian Church. Class 1 medical exams and permission slips are required. Any parent who would like to volunteer is urged to do so. Full time volunteer parents will receive a $25 refund on the price of one child’s admission. Day camp is a very memorable part of Cub Scouting, and any Cub who can attend should do so. Remember that the work days we have planned will offset the cost of camp, and it is quite possible to work your cost down to nothing. Any adults planning to volunteer should contact the scoutmaster or cubmaster as soon as possible so that we can order the shirts, which are free to volunteers.

Boy Scout summer camp will be held at camp La-No-Che this year. Our reservations are for the week of 8 – 15 July, 2007. Summer camp is a very memorable part of Boy Scouting, and any scout who can attend should do so. Remember that the work days we have planned will offset the cost of camp, and it is quite possible to work your cost down to nothing. Boys should strive to have as complete a uniform as possible before the camp. We will be having inspections of uniforms in the upcoming weeks to correct a few patch placement problems that have been noticed, and to instruct the boys concerning how to look their best in uniform. Official inspection forms are available on our website. The scoutmaster will also do everything possible to get activity uniforms (that means troop t-shirts) ready before we go to camp. A class 2 medical exam and permission slip are required.

For now, that seems to be what we have planned. It would be nice to get everyone together for a cookout or picnic sometime soon. If anyone has any ideas, please e-mail the scoutmaster.

Welcome to the fourth newsletter.

Past newsletters are archived at the troop’s website http://www.bsa804.com. There have also been a few more helpful links added to the website regarding advancement and safety.

During the last few meetings (16 October, 2006; 23 October, 2006; and 30 October, 2006) the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts did the following:

…The boys continued to develop teamwork skills through outdoor activities such as blind man’s bluff, tug of war, SPUD et cetera.

…The Boy Scouts have finished discussing the first aid requirements for the Tenderfoot rank. They should be ready in the next few weeks to be lightly tested on all of the requirements for the rank of Tenderfoot.

…The Tiger Cubs visited the Glenwood Fire Station for their Go See It in October. They learned about fire safety, when to call 911, and how the firefighters use many different tools to fight fires and rescue people. They saw how the “jaws of life” work, sat in the front of the fire truck and even held the fire hose to see how powerful the water coming out can be. They had a great time, and the trip increased their appreciation for the bravery of our firefighters and how they serve our community every day.

…The Cub Scout Raingutter Regatta was held on 30 October, and the Cubs got a chance to show off their handiwork. The boats were each a work of art unto themselves, and hopefully parents and children got a good chance to have fun together building the vessels. The Boy Scouts were kind enough to volunteer their meeting time to assist the Cubs with their races. It’s fair to say that everybody had a good time. The Webelos den swept the pack away with their sailing skills. The overall third place prize went to Walker Phillips, second went to Jonathan Freeborough, and first place to Bryan Vojnar.

The two sections of rain gutter were created and prepared by Michael Herman of Mike Herman Siding, Inc. as a special donation to Pack 804. Please keep this in mind should you need the services of a siding/gutter company. We are also thankful to one of our cub Dads, Les Peatt, for his work in preparing for and setting up the regatta, and for building the starting gates for the gutters.

The Webelos den is enjoying the donation of leather pieces by Mrs. Karen Russi for use in their neckerchief slide project.

We would like to welcome three new Cub Scouts to the pack, Mitchell Bruggner, Christopher Cespedes, and Joshua Santiago, and three new Boy Scouts to the troop, Tyler Bruggner, Daniel Peatt, and Anthony Santiago!

Don’t forget that all ages of boys will be meeting at the Edmunds Center at Stetson University at 6:40 on Monday evening, 6 November, 2006. The tickets for this basketball game have been provided to all Cubs and Boy Scouts (and the parents of Tiger Cubs) by Stetson University. Please be sure to express your thanks to those in charge whom we may encounter while there. This game will take the place of all Scout meetings on the sixth, while the church sets up for Election Day (Tuesday.)

Some help will be needed on Wednesday, 8 November, 2006, from 8:00 – 10:00 AM at the church to set up for the bazaar. Please call one of the Mr. Eckhardts if you can come.

The Cub Scout pack meeting will be held on 20 November, and all parents and family members of the Cubs are encouraged to attend.

There is an orienteering outing planned for 25 November from after lunch to before dinner at Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. More exact times will be announced. The purpose of this approximately three-mile hike will be to present the basics of orienteering to the Boy Scouts before our slightly more advanced over-night orienteering campout, which is planned for the 8th and 9th of December (Friday after lunch until Saturday before dinner.) The older Webelos who are of the age to be working toward their Arrows of Light are also invited to both of these events, as they will both fulfill requirements for the Arrow of Light, the most important award in Cub Scouting. Scoutmaster Eckhardt still wears his Arrow of Light as part of his uniform today.

Pastor Tom has extended an invitation to all Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to join the church for Christmas Caroling on Sunday, 17 December, 2006. The plan is to meet at the church at 4:30 PM for travel (by private cars) to various nursing homes to carol. Afterward there will be cookies and hot chocolate back at the pastor’s house next to the church.

Don’t forget the church bazaar on Saturday 11 November, 2006. The two Mr. Eckhardts have worked out scheduling details which should keep us from becoming too numerous and running into each other. This schedule is listed below. Please call one of the Mr. Eckhardts if there is a problem with your part of the schedule. There will be a lot of work to do including setup and food preparation.

Past newsletters are archived at the troop’s website http://www.bsa804.com. There have also been a few helpful links added to the website regarding advancement and safety.

During the last few meetings (25 September, 2006; 02 October, 2006; and 09 October, 2006) the Boy Scouts did the following:

…At the beginning of each of these meetings the scouts enjoyed some outdoor activities. For one such activity (which actually lasted throughout the whole meeting) the boys worked together in a team-building exercise called “talisman” during which the scouts had to solve a logistic/physical problem. All boys had to cross a “toxic” area, and in order to be safe, a talisman had to be carried across on each trip. The rules were that the talisman could not be tossed, and each boy could only carry the talisman once in one direction. The answer took the entire meeting to discover, and it involved the carrying of some people by others. It was a nice break not to have to address any business-type issues for the whole meeting. It was interesting and fun to witness the boys thinking about how to work as a team to solve a rather complex problem.

…The first October meeting began with a fun outdoor game called “SPUD,” and the second with some free-style dodge ball of sorts.

…The first aid requirements for the Tenderfoot rank were discussed at each meeting, as were the ideal contents of a troop first aid kit.

…A 50 mile hike led by Assistant District Commissioner Hearn was announced. This is a “First Class” hike, meaning that the boys will be working toward their First Class Rank while away. Any participants must be at least Tenderfoot rank to attend.

The “show and sell” part of the popcorn sale came to an end last Monday night. All leftover popcorn and collected money was taken in, and the sale was a rather large success. There are a few boys who are still hotly competing for the official Boy Scout and Cub Scout awards which will go to the top selling Scout and Cub. They are doing so by collecting even more sales on their order forms.

Please continue to sell pancake breakfast tickets as well. This fund raiser is picking up steam. Remember that we will need boys to participate in making and serving food at the church on 21 October, 2006 from about 6am to 12pm. More specific times will be announced.

The Tiger Cubs’ theme through the end of October is “shipbuilders,” and they are getting ready for their Raingutter Regatta. This is a fun project for which the boys build and paint their own sailboats. We are in need of two ten foot lengths of raingutter, closed at each end, and we are currently seeking the donation of such.

The Tigers played a fun game called “Walk the rope” which is similar to walking the plank but with a much shorter fall! (Cubs are blind-folded, spun around by their parents, and then walk in their stocking feet along a 12 foot length of rope. Two cubs at a time race to see who can reach the end of their rope first. They also sang a corny little song (to the tune of “My Bonny”) about Cub Scouts getting lost at sea without their trusty compasses.

Cub awards this month were:
Austin Salveson: Arrow Point, Fitness
Bryan Vojnar: Bobcat, Fitness
Jonathan Freeborough: Fitness, Handyman
Walker Phillips: Bobcat, Fitness
Jacob Fry: Bobcat

The Webelos den worked on leather neckerchief slides during one of their past their meetings, and the Tiger den completed another “go see it” activity at the DeLand public library during one of their meetings.

We are still getting some requests from our fellow citizens for service from the Boy Scouts in exchange for monetary donations. Boys who participate will, of course, receive the individual benefit of their labors in their personal or den accounts.

Well, here we are already publishing a second newsletter.

Past Newsletters will be archived at the troop’s website http://www.bsa804.com

During the last meeting (18 September, 2006) the Boy Scouts:

Completed the second half of their physical fitness requirements for the Tenderfoot rank. All boys who were present participated, and all who participated showed the required improvement necessary to complete the requirement.

Ian Shaughnessy acted in his first official capacity as treasurer by collecting dues.

The improvements we could and/or should make for our next camping trip were discussed, and suggestions for changes were solicited from the boys.

The Webelos den worked on leather neckerchief slides during their meeting, and the Tiger den completed another “go see it” activity at the DeLand public library during their meeting.

The Cub Scouts will be having their pack meeting next week at the church, and all family members are invited to come participate.

Our popcorn sale is still going well. There are a few boys who are hotly competing for the official Boy Scout and Cub Scout awards which will go to the top selling Scout and Cub. There are still some Cub Scout store-front sales groups forming, and anyone interested should contact their den leader or pack leader.

Our Webelos den leader, Susan Salveson, has arranged with the Tractor Supply store on Glenwood Road and SR 17 to set up a popcorn table inside. There are other troops scheduled mostly on the weekends, but there are ample opportunities during the week to set up for sales. Susan’s number is seven-three-six–two-seven-nine-three. She has only one small table, so it would be prudent to bring a card table and perhaps a chair.

We are planning a fundraising breakfast at the church on 21 October, 2006 from about 6am to 12pm. Tickets will be pre-sold by the boys for $4, and will be $5 at the door. Please invite everybody you know. Four tickets were issued to each boy during the meeting. There will be more available during the next meeting if needed.

We are beginning to get some requests from our fellow citizens for service from the Boy Scouts in exchange for monetary donations. Boys who participate will, of course, receive the individual benefit of their labors in their personal accounts.

On a related note, if there are any financial hardships regarding the purchase of uniforms, camping fees, dues, or any other matter, there have been some offers made to assist those who truly would benefit from such an offer. There are also opportunities for group service project as mentioned above. Please see Scoutmaster Eckhardt. No boy should ever feel excluded or unable to be involved in the troop because of any financial reason.

Our first campout was a great success. All eleven Boy Scouts participated, and all earned their Totin’ Chip (the recognition of the successful completion of knife, saw, and hatchet/axe training, and the accompanying right to carry and use these tools,) and Firem’n Chit (a similar recognition as regards fire safety and techniques.)

Samuel Lopez led his Timber Wolf patrol in the planning and preparation of a great hamburger lunch on Sunday afternoon, and CJ Long and the Wolverines did the same for Saturday night’s dinner. There was a church gathering on Sunday morning that was attended by those who did not leave temporarily for their own churches. The topic was Ezekiel chapter 8 and the purity of thought, and Romans chapter 8 and walking after the spirit. The meeting also included a few tangential conversations, as such events involving boys tend to do.

The most pleasant portion of the campout was that it was the first chance we had as a troop to really get to know each other better. Through some campfire discussions and good-natured ribbing, the unique personalities of each of us became more apparent to us all. It was made abundantly clear that our troop is comprised of some first-rate boys, and that every one of them is truly a good boy, some well on their way to becoming good, upright men.

Some of each of the boys’ nicest qualities became apparent during the campout:
Samuel Lopez; mature and competent,
Ian Shaughnessy; studious and well-read,
Blake Salveson; friendly and knowledgeable,
Joshua Lopez; funny and quick-witted,
Jerry Araquipa; playful and spirited,
Evan Sieg; courteous and eager to please,
Davis Phillips; fun and ready with a story,
CJ Long; ready to lead and eager to befriend,
Matt Shaughnessy; inquisitive and eager to advance,
Jordan Youell; active and helpful,
Joshua Youell; artistic and thoughtful.

Although we are all from different backgrounds and were each given different gifts by God, it was obvious that we are united both by being members of the body of Christ and the adventurous scouting spirit.

Scoutmaster Eckhardt miscalculated the time it would take to finish the church meeting, prepare and eat lunch, and pack up camp by about an hour, causing some parents to have to wait a while (for which he apologizes), and as a result, the packing and policing and other portions of the “leave no trace” practices were not followed. Our next campout will last about an hour longer to accommodate the proper packing and care of the campsite.

As an ending note, it is completely understandable that boys and young men (as well as their families) can be stretched thin by the plethora of activities from which they must choose. God and family must come before all other activities, and no one should feel obligated to wear themselves out by trying to attend every single activity there is to do with the troop. Scoutmaster Eckhardt has had to miss meetings and reschedule Boy Scout activities as well, and has even missed some baseball games and practices as well. If 100% participation is not possible, any boy who enjoys scouting activities should feel welcome to participate to the extent that it is possible for him and his family.

A website for the troop is located at http://www.bsa804.com

During the last meeting (11 September, 2006) the Boy Scouts:

…Wrote a letter of thanks to Pastor Dave Walker of the Lighthouse Christian center for the church’s donation of much camping equipment to the troop. The boys signed the letter, and Scoutmaster Troy sent it to the church.

…Evan Sieg was elected as the Wolverine patrol’s new assistant patrol leader

…Matthew Shaughnessy was elected as the Timber Wolf patrol’s new assistant patrol leader.

…Ian Shaughnessy was elected as the troop’s new treasurer.

…Announced that the troop’s schedule is available for viewing as a Google calendar. It will be on the troop’s webpage as well as here: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=6skl55i79d3s6mdhtm01ns481k%40group.calendar.google.com. It can be integrated into your own Google calendar as well.

…We established dues of $1 per meeting night for each boy. Ian, our new treasurer will collect and account for it.

…It was announced that all profits from fundraising will be split as follows:

Cub Scouts: 2/3 to the pack and 1/3 to the individual dens’ accounts, split according to participation.

Boy Scouts: 2/3 to the troop and 1/3 to the individual scouts’ accounts, split according to participation.

During the last meeting the Tiger Den worked on requirement 1F, a family scrapbook.

Our popcorn sale is in full swing. Order forms and popcorn were sent home with each family after the meeting. There will be an official Boy Scout or Cub Scout prize given to the top selling Scout and Cub. There are some Cub Scout store-front sales groups forming, and anyone interested should contact their den leader or pack leader.

We are planning a fundraising breakfast at the church on 21 October, 2006 from about 6am to 12pm. Tickets will be pre-sold by the boys for $4, and will be $5 at the door. Please invite everybody you know.

The rummage sale has been put on hold for the time being. The Presbyterian ladies’ bazaar will be held first, and they will donate their leftover goods to us to sell at our rummage sale. During the ladies’ bazaar, the Scouts and Cubs will be helping serve breakfast, selling stuff, and cleaning up. This will last from about 8am to 1pm on 11 November, 2006.

The Boy Scouts will be camping from Saturday, 16 September, 2006 at 11am until Sunday, 17 September, 2006 at about 1pm. This trip is specifically for the purpose of fulfilling the requirements for the rank of Tenderfoot, but secondarily just for fun. All knives and fire starting implements will be taken by Scoutmaster Troy until / unless the boy has earned the credentials for carrying such items. We will be working on these credentials during the campout.

We will meet at Scoutmaster Troy’s property on the corner of Glenwood Road and BriarPatch Lane at 11am. Church service will be held and conducted on Sunday morning by Scoutmaster Troy. Any boy who wishes to attend his regular service may do so, and should plan to take a cold hose shower in a bathing suit and should bring clothing suitable for his church. It is also asked that after going to regular church, that the boys return for lunch, and to take down the campsite. The Bible Baptist Church is within walking distance of the campsite. Boys who wish to attend another church must make travel arrangements. There will be occasions during which it will be impossible to attend regular church during camping trips due to distance restrictions.

During the campout the Wolverines will be preparing Saturday’s Dinner, The Leadership Patrol will be preparing Sunday’s breakfast, and the Timber Wolves will be preparing Sunday’s lunch.

The Boy Scouts have been asked to read chapter nine in their handbooks before the camping trip. There is a check sheet on pages 224-225. Bug repellent should be added to the list. Sunscreen is also missing from the list, but should not be very necessary for this trip.

There is a tentative meeting for the patrol and troop leadership (Blake Salveson, Samuel Lopez and CJ Long) at my office (1133 Glenwood Road) at 5pm on Wednesday, 13 September, 2006. We will be planning and shopping for meals for the trip. We will be out until at least 7pm.

For next week’s meeting, 18 September, 2006 the Tiger Den will be meeting at the DeLand Public Library at 6:30pm. The Boy Scouts will be doing the second half of their personal fitness requirement for the Tenderfoot rank. For this reason, a t-shirt should be brought so the boys won’t be rolling around in their expensive uniform shirts.

It has been asked whether uniforms are necessary. I recommend that at the very least each boy have a uniform shirt, hat, and neckerchief. I know that uniform items are rather expensive. It is possible to use money from each boy’s personal account within the troop (the 1/3 of profit from fund raising activities) to purchase uniforms if a hardship condition exists. See Scoutmaster Troy to set up such an arrangement.
